Rifle Chamber / Barrel Cooler Project

I have 4 ARs and a bolt gun I need to spend some time with at the range and want to use a barrel cooler to speed things up so I made one. I had a pretty decent one made by Caldwell but the battery crapped out and they don't make them any longer.

All the ones I found online were expensive and looked inadequate ..... None of them looked like they would move enough air to be worth using.

I ran up to Walmart and found a 12 volt inflator that looked like what I needed and the rest was pretty easy. I have a small 12 volt battery that I keep around for lights or small fans and I had already made a 12v socket rig for it.

All I had to do was plug it in and use the pump adaptor that fit a 1/2" hose and I was GTG. I also made a small wood base for the blower motor so it would stay upright.

This video shows that it's moving enough air to be effective IMO.

fantastic idea, but have you considered one with an internal, rechargeable battery so you have less things/weight to lug to the range with you?

something like that boasts 45 mins of run time on a single charge. hopefully suitable for more than a days range session. lets assume 10x 4 min runs anyway. im going on the assumption you're gonna get more than one or two shot strings off before cooling is necessary anyway.

just food for thought!
