Rifle holder thingy?

Ok so here's a long shot. I was at the last Wanenmacher gun show in Tulsa and there was a guy selling a clip that you wore on ur belt/waistband. It was curved on the outside so that it cradled your stock and took all the swing and weight of your rifle off of your back. Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about?

I have one that is what you describe, but it is to hold my bow at 3D shoots. Made of metal with a cloth covering. Slips onto your belt and is U shaped.

Can't remember seeing such an item for guns, but I have them for my bows too. Now that you mention it, that would help get some weight off of my busted up back!

Roundcall has it right. Kinda cool, but not to sure if it would be as handy as they let on. There cheep enough, buy it, try it and let us know.

Tim, they are made of kydex or plastic??, don't think they would scratch your stock. My problem is I carry my tree stand during deer/rifle season on my back and the "slingback" will be in the way. For spot and stalk, they would probably work.

My bow hook/carrier is covered in a woven "nylon". Agreed, debris can scratch the stock, etc., but that's the reason I have hunting guns - I can't seem to keep any gun looking anywhere close to new - vehicles either! LOL! Thank the Lord for stainless and synthetic for duffusses like me. I think I"m gonna liquidate most of my "nice" guns while they're still nice.

Yeah that's it. The reason I even started looking into one was I noticed that carrying a rifle with a bull barrel, especially with a light stock, that it's hard to keep one still while walking. I was hoping that this would get rid of some of the "unbalance".

Turn your sling around. Carry it with the barrel pointing towards the ground it will ride better on your shoulder and not try to flip.

....and you can get your rifle into action much quicker by carrying it muzzle down.

If you are worried about getting something in the barrel, pull a finger cot over it.

I always cover the muzzle with plain old electrical tape. It keeps all the crap out to include moisture, and you can shoot right through it.
