rifle stock pistol grip changes

I am shooting a ruger american predator but would really like a more vertical pistol grip. I notice that there is an adapter for the tikka line of rifles to change the grip. Anybody out there seen something either for the ruger or something more generic to help fix more than one plastic stock? Twenty bucks or so for the adapter would be a lot more friendly to my wallet than an entirely new stock from Boyds.

No but I'd prefer a straighter pistol grip on my Savage scout, so did a search for the Tika grip adapter and just ordered one in hopes I can adapt it to my rifle. If all else fails, I'll use epoxy and build mine up, but this might make it easier and I'm willing to gamble $9 + shipping.

Thanks!

That is the avenue I think I'll take also. Thanks for your reply. It's amazing with all the plastic stocks out there that more companies don't have the options to modify their product.

I modified my Boyd’s thumb hole stock to be more of a vertical pistol grip. Not a beauty queen now but fits much better. I had to turn my hand for a comfortable trigger pull before.

I've modified a couple of stocks with epoxy in the past; both pre-64 mod 70's. Put a permanent monte carlo cheekpiece on a hunting rifle and made one high and one low interchangeable raised cheek rests on a Mod 70 National Match rifle.

I won't mind altering the plastic stock on the Savage nearly as much as I did the mod. 70's. If the Tika grip cannot be easily altered/installed, I have in mind building up the grip to straighten it out, then adding a palm swell and thumbrest similar to target handgun grips along right side of stock. Should make for a much more comfortable grip for me than the factory stock. We'll see.

WT, I think trap shooters use a product made by Rat Grips to build up the grip area. Kick-Ezz makes a add on palm swell product also. I have no experience with either though.

Target pistol shooters would use body putty to make form fit grips on their pistols.

The tikka vertical pistol grip swapped out on my Tikka in about 2 mins and improved the shooting characteristics instantly.
It has a fuller palm swell with a much better trigger reach along with a better control grip on the gun.
The sale price looks good.

Thanks everybody. It's nice to know I'm not the only gun-nut who is looking for ways to tweek his rig. I certainly had never heard of rat's grip before. Looks like I'm gonna have to invest some time in one of the tikka adapters. Thanks again.
