Rimfire question????

Actually depends on the target size, number of rounds attempted a 300ft by 350ft with say 1000 rounds is maybe possible.
but yeah there are claims of that, that I just do not believe is the norm. I'm forced to echo Alf's comments.

This is my spot only 3 miles from home at shoot at regularly with the 22's, & one of my favorite things to do is fill up half liter Pepsi bottles with colored water for targets. I start at about 90 yards at the puddle in the low left of the pic, & spread them out in 10-15 yard increments, going as far as the gravel pile, where it looks like the road end, which is 375 yards. With just a minor breeze, it can be a exercise in futility trying to hit the far ones with any regularity.

i have another spot where I have steel at 100, 150, 200 , 250, 300 & 400 yards, 8" rounds at the 1st four spots, & 12" the last two. I can hit the 300 quite regularly, the 400 can be a humbler more often than not.

The scope is the Votex Viper HD 3-15x44, his 6X scope at 600 is laughable.....

I practice with my 22lr at 100 yards and can pretty regularly hit nickel size targets off cross-sticks. I'm going to the range on Friday, we can shoot out to 500 yards, I'll see what I can do. Savage HB, thumbhole stock with a Weaver V-16, I'll more than likely use up all the elevation and the a lot of hold over. We have solid benches.

600 yards is outside of my ability. This time of year you would need the new FoxPro X360 caller. Apparently it works like magic? I suggest you run the Staple Gun in Distress and the Peeling Tape coaxer sounds to see if getting the target in a bit closer is an option.

"And there I was ... the year was 1396 at Camp Perry shooting against Carlos Hathcock, me with my trusty cricket in 22LR, a Unertl 20x scope properly sighted. And Carlos his 1903 Springfield musket shooting at 600 yards standing offhand, with a smallbore target being placed on a buoy bouncing in the bay, The FoxPro X360 caller echoing through the valley sounds of a dying staple gun. Everyone laughed at the pink stock color with yellow tiger stripes of my high precision rifle until I bested him by placing 20 shots in a row inside a dime within 2 seconds..."

pfffft tall tales are one thing.... Meanwhile back in the real world I'd be happy to hold minute of gopher at 100 - 125 yards 4 out of 5 shots (22LR cartridge, which I think is doable and reasonable given the correct equipment)

Sarge, you had me believing right up until “2 seconds”. Ain’t no way anyone can pull off 20 rounds in 2 seconds with yellow tiger stripes!

So you was there @Spurchaser ,,, was you one of the one's laughing at my beautiful pink with yellow tiger stripes ???

Funny part is if played right with any answer by any member, I could actually turn this into a "huh did it really happen?" .... Even though it's a total fabrication of a tale.

bob munden can shoot a balloon at 200 yards with a 22 lr pistol :)
