Rings for atn 4k on AR.

just picked up an ATN 4K For my R-15. Id been running a PEPR mount on it previously and the PEPR will not work w the night vision. what rings do you guys recommend ? Highs? extra high? im stopping today to pick up a set but figured id ask for opinions before i made a purchase.

Just curios why the PEPR wont on the 4K. Is it a height issue or eye relief. I have a Photon on an R15 with a PEPR backwards. Not sure if that helps you or not.

the center control section on the 4k was too long for the pepr. There was not enough space between the rings on pepr. . i also realized the pepr i have is 1” and the 4k was a 30 mm so it wouldnt of worked regardless. i ended up going w sightmark x high 30 mm rings. i like the height and it feels good coming up.

To my understanding from a YouTube video I watched, there currently is no one-piece 30mm mount that has enough space between the rings to accommodate the 4k, which has a control housing of 3.50" to 3.75".

Nightwatchman, does the scope sit pretty high off the bore when using the Sightmark high rings? I like the idea of a low mount, but on an AR it's necessary to have it a little higher, but that doesn't help trajectory.

i actually thought it would sit too high with the x highs but theres barely enough room to get my fingers under eye pc to pull the extractor back. its actually not much different height wise from my pepr( maybe 1/8-1/4) higher if that. if i get time today ill upload a pic.

That would be good to see a photo of it. What about proper eye level? Can you easily see without having to get your eye positioned lower?

dang i forgot how bad i hated posting pics on this site.. lol. Hope that helps. it comes up good and im still getting the feel for it. Eye relief seems good on it though. Hopefully this wkend i can put some time on it and sight it in and i can give you more details but rt now all the experience i have with it is after dark off my front porch lol

Thanks. I'm curios to hear more as you use it more. The ocular seems to be a bit far forward, but if the eye relief is pretty good then maybe it doesn't need to move to the rear any more.

One other question. Is the objective end of the lens shade threaded? In other words, can it accept longer sun shades to extend the length of it?

yes it comes with a sun shade. ive pulled it up quite a few times and im not totally happy with it rt now. it is alittle far foward but as you can tell there isnt alot of room for adjustment. I wanted to make sure i could reach the extractor easily when i mounted it. after this wkend ill hopefully make some adjustments and get some time with it on the table to make it fit me.

Would be nice if a good company would come out with a one-piece mount that allows for a more rearward position.

Have you tried the rings ATN supplied with the scope?

My understanding is that ATN supplies rings with the scope, one of which is an extension ring that would allow you to move the scope more rearward. Maybe I am wrong but that's been my impression all along.
