RL10x

I'm just waiting for some 10x to come in at my local sporting goods store but I can get a can or two of the ARcomp. I've never shot the powder but does anyone have a comparison between the two shooting a .55gr.v-max out of a .223. Right now I'm shooting RL10x. Federal case, remington benchrest primer, .23grs. 10x and a.55gr. v-max. Need to chrony but excellent groups.

AR Comp is a great powder very clean burning and consistent from the few calibers I have used it in. It will be good in the .223 although it was designed for the heavier bullets it seems from Alliants data to do quite well with the 55 gr as well. You will be happy with it I believe. Reloder 10X has been the absolute dirtiest powder I have ever used so you may find you never go back.

I would use the 55gr Data and work up a load.

RL-10x shoots so good in my bolt guns that I just can't get away from it. It is not a "clean" powder, but it sure does shoot good.

I love H-335 but it is also very dirty. I got a good buy on some accurate 2230 and it is a better powder. Will try some Ramshot when I run out of the 2230. I hear good things about their powders.

Two of the smallest groups I ever shot were with Reloder 10X.in my 6X45mm..... but I am pretty sure it was luck.

Not my experience at all. I load it a 204 Ruger load, and
several 6.8 SPC loads, and can't say I have noticed any
significant increase in powder fouling. I have noticed
a significant reduction in group sizes in some rifles.

YMMV

Maybe I should say that it is the hardest powder I have found to remove the fouling it leaves behind. It took much more cleaning time to get it all removed from the barrel. YMMV as well.
I do remember John(pcammo) saying he quit trying to pressure test loads using Reloder 10X as it completely clogged the pressure tester.FWIW.

Yeah 10X is NASTY! It shoots REALLY great & the velocity is there; but I refuse to shoot it becasue its so dirty. VERY noticable difference campared to even slightly "clean: burning powders.

When was the last time you tested RL-10x?

Early on they had some issues with being "dirty" but they changed the formula and it is better now.

I just don't see the carbon problem being worse than some ball powders.

Ok tried some ARcomp with 55gr. varmageddon tipped. 24.5grs. powder through my AR-15 with 24" stainless fluted bull barrel. Roughly a 7/8 to one inch group at 100tds. Think I'll stick with RL10x.

The Reloder 10X I have used says "New Improved" on the can but you cannot prove it by me. I don't doubt the accuracy of it but I have gotten great accuracy and better velocity from the .223 with numerous powders that are so much easier to remove so it is an easy decision.
N133,N135,N530 Benchmark, XTerminator,CFE223,H335,AA2015 all have performed quite well without the tough build-up. JME
