Road Kill Record Book

Now I have seen everything. I could get a Slam pretty easy. People hit Bighorn Sheep here with a high degree of regularity. The gallery has a photo of a good idea, all heads on one board. Comments? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Road kills are still eligible for recognition in the regular record books. It’s the animal they are celebrating not the hunter or the method or manner in which the animal died. A great big deer that died of natural causes is also eligible

I guess that could be listed as a pickup? Or maybe a SUV (Smacked Under Vehicle) or a car (Crunched At Road).

I can see the listing now:
Locallity Killed; I90, By Whom; Ford , Owner; Acme Towing

Actually 450 it does kind of read like that.

It gives SCORE, LOCATION, HUNTER, OWNER, DATE and specifics.

Under hunter you will either see a name or something else like "picked up"..

Yep' your right.

Actually I forgot another popular potential catagory;
SEMI - (Smashed Entirely, Missing Internals)
(see it was kinda like an attempt at one of them there humor things)

Now, normally I don't do smiley's, but /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

OK, Here's another point to ponder;

Is it FAIR CHASE?

What if you're going faster than they can run?
What if it's at night and you blind it with your high-beams?
What if there's a high fence along the road?
What if you finish it off by whacking it in the head with a shovel?

Again, I ask, is it FAIR CHASE?

OH yeah.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I believe it is only fair if you are driving a sub-compact. If your in an SUV or larger it is "canned' and shouldnt be considered Fair chase. I personally only hunt with a hybred in mid summer. That is the ultimate challenge. Everyone else is just a wanna be! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

hey! what about a quad or a motorcycle? a motorbike would be one of those "real man" things, kind of evens things up between you and the critter /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

ROTFL! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I currently hold our companies record for most animals hit and most $ in damage to company vehicles (I also logged the most road miles for a 2.5yrd period). I think I'm losing my touch. Much to our CFO's pleasure, I haven't whacked one in over 2yrs.

IMO using anything smaller than a 3/4ton is unethical on elk sized game and larger.

I have a buddy that likes to push the envelope, he once hit a deer @ 30mph on his bike (BICYCLE THAT IS!!!). If I remember correctly, he said it took about 3 weeks for the roadrash to soften up enough for him to get off the couch.
