Rubber boots for hunting?

I'm looking to get a pair of rubber boots for hunting. I'm looking at Lacrosse Alpha and Redhead Bone Dry. I want 1000 grams of insulation and may need to buy another pair without insulation for warm weather. I want any opinions on various brands of all rubber boots 16 to 18 inches tall. Do you think I need to get 2 different pair for warm and cold weather? Thanks.

I just bought a pair of Rocky 18" rubber boots with 1000 gram thinsulate. I have worn them twice but the weather has been mild so I don't know how warm they really are. They are comfortable, probably walked 5 miles. I was going to buy LaCrosse but they run a size small, I needed a 14 which the dealer didn't have and couldn't get in time. The price is about the same, I don't think you will go wrong with either.

another thing that you might not be realizing is that if you ware rubberboots only when you are hunting you are cutting down on the scent that you leave when you walk around. Just think you are ready to hop into the truck and the gas gauge is empty well time to go to the gas station get gas. Ever look on the ground at all the oil and spilled gas stains. Just think of all the oil that could get stuck on your boots. I wear a pair of slipons for trapping and only put them on and off at least ten feet away from the vehicle. The pair I wear are not to warm but I just slip in a liner that I have that is 1000 gr of thinsulate.

I too am lookig at some rubber boots I think I might need 2 pair, a pair with 800 grams of insulation for walk around hunting and may a pair with 2000 for cold weather treestand. one thing I want is the kind of rubber boots that have the "ankle fit"

I've got 2 pair of rubber boots both are Redheads from Bass Pro. One pair is 600 gram of Thinsulate and the other is 1000. The 1000 model is plenty warm with a good pair of socks. I've got both on sale. I got the 600 gram ones for $24.95 and the 1000 gram for $39.95. I love them and have hunted in them for 3 years now. I wear the Redhead Snake boots for when it's warm. The rubber boots make my feet sweat too much plus we got a lot of Rattlesnakes around here.

I don't have a very high opinion of Redhead right about now. Last summer I bought a pair of Redhead 16" snake boots. By this spring they had a 1" tear in the Cordura(?) and the sole was separating from the upper. Both boots leaked. I gotta give credit to BassPro cause they gave me my money back plus the shipping I paid to send it to them (I bought them at the Springfield, MO store). I didn't even wear those boots that much. I wore them during bow season and during turkey season and that was it. Oh, and once predator calling. I've got a pair of Rocky rubber boots right now. Got 'em for $50 at Gander Mountain in Janesville, WI. Like 'em so far.

I have had a pair of LaCrosse rubber boots for over 10 years they just won't die and I hunt in a lot of cactus and mesquite. They are not insulated but wool socks work fine double up if you need to. I keep my boots in a plastic bucket in my truck tool box along with a boot puller and a bottle of raccoon pee. Never tried the other brands.

I don't sit a treestnd in below zero temps anymore but 10 to 15 degrees is pretty common and 2000 grams of insulations is not to much, it is to much for walk around hunting, 6 to 800 grams for that would be about right i'm guessing.
