I'm looking to replace the barrel on my 10/22 which is a ss regular size barrel. Can I replace this with the .920 heavy/bull barrel. I'm also looking to change the stock to accomadate the larger barrel size. I'm just not sure if a heavy/bull barrel will hook up properly to the action. Anyone know /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

All after market barrels will bolt right up (standard tapered or bull) provideing they fit in the barrel channel in the stock. You'll need a different stock for a bull barrel. Just 2 allen screws hold in the barrel. If you goto www.rimfirecentral.com you'll get more info on 10/22's that you'll ever need.

You want a bargain barrel for the Ruger? I am going to tell you this one thing, and I mean it- a Adams and Bennett from Midway will shoot like you wont believe. Plain old American Eagle 22 HP would put 10 in a quarter at 50 yards with my old 10/22. Ground squirrels at 100 yards were nothing at all to hit. I foolishly /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif traded it off for a coolo carbon fiber barrel that shot no better than a stock Ruger barrel. Traded that one for a Butler Creek and that one for a Green Mountain. The best was the A&B. AND the cheapest too. I be getting me another one soon, and no Patrick, you aint talking me out of this one!

And I just now did it. I ordered me a Adams and Bennet 16" blue match barrel for my 10/22. Heck never found anything else that shot so good so may as well go back to what that worked the best. That will give me something to play with now by jingo. I be shooting the nuts off a gnat with it at 100 yards here next week. I keep you informed. I reckon it will be interesting.

Funny thing Rustydust Im thinking about building a 2nd 10/22, you know for the girlfriend. Ya right. What are you going to do with the other barrel? I was thinking one of the Tactical Solutions barrels made in Boise wolud be nice. Or I could take that bad shooting barrel off your hands. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

After I see how the new one shoots that sounds doable. If the new one shoots as good as the 1st one that I had I will have a barrel for sale/trade I expect. The Green Mountain that is on it now is fine tho. I had Tom at ESE work on it polishing the chamber because I was getting a few misfires from the round not going all the way in the chamber. Cant have that when there is a whistlepig just standing there waiting to be shot now can we?

I have a clerke on mine and it will shoot with most of the higher dollar barrels. i actually won the club silhouette championships with that rifle. the clerkes are also pretty cheap around 100 dollars. for the price you cant hardly beat them.

I have a 16" Clerke on one and an 18" GM on another. Both of them shoot great. My son (young eyes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif) uses the Clerke barreled 10-22 to write his name on the targets at 50 yds.
