Ruger 22/45 vs. Beretta Neos

Im just wondering what you guys have to say about how the Beretta Neos measures up to the Ruger 22/45 as far as reliability and accuracy. I wanted to buy another 22/45 with the 5.5" barrel but my dealer said his supplier is no longer stocking them and everywhere online seems to be sold out or reserved for vip members. So im looking for an alternative that will do the job as good or atleast close to the 22/45. I can get the Beretta for $215 shipped to my dealer. Is that a reasonable price? Thanks in advance. Josh

Thats what it is. They are called Mark III 22/45. Atleast thats what I bought last time. I sold it and now apparently noone has them.

That's a pretty decent price on the NEOS, I think I paid $230 for mine 2 - 3 years ago. And, my local small town gunshop is usually pretty low on their prices.

Fantastic little gun, I've never had an issue with mine whatsoever. Think I've cleaned it once, and probably have 1500 - 2000 rounds through it.

Great shootin little gun too, it's every bit as accurate as you are. Mine shoots everything well, I've probably put 10 - 12 different brands of ammo through it, lead ball, jacketed ball, hollow points, supersonic, subsonic, it handled them all well, but it absolutely loves Remington Yellow Jackets!! Deadly accurate with those.

The mark III are different from the 22/45. The Mark models dont have the composite frame and are more of a straight vertical frame where the mark series is more of a angle.

This link is to the exact gun I had. Ruger 22/45 Mark III.

Im sure I would like that GC but im trying to keep the price around $250 or less as I have another gun purchase ill be making around the same time. I shouldnt of got rid of my first one but there was something I thought I wanted more then ended up only having it for about a week before I sold it. Stupid things I do bc I have a spur of the moment idea.

Sorry, then I'd still stick with a Ruger 22/45 of some sort. They're just excellent pistols as you already know.

Whats that Mark III hunter typically run? Somewhere between $350 and $400 isnt it? Should would be nice for carrying in the boat opposed to the blue version. Maybe ill wait on the pistol a bit and just purchase the .22-250 for now and save some more money. Not in any real big hurry anyhow. Just got a Christmas bonus burning a hole in my pocket.

I had a Neos for a couple of years. Had a pretty crappy trigger and had a few ejection issues. I think that it was an early one but not sure as I was not the original owner.

Anyway got tired of messing with it and sold it to a co-worker who took a fancy to it. I have three Ruger 22 auto pistols including a 30 year old Mk II with over 100,000 rounds fired through it that rattles now when you shake it but still shoots well.

The two newer Mk II's take care of most of my .22 pistol chores now. I'm happy with the Rugers you could say.

I would prefer the Ruger but to my understanding, the one I want is no longer available unless you buy it directly from Ruger and they want their MSRP for one which is $100 more than I payed last time. I checked buds gun shop and they still have them in stock but are reserved for their vip members and one other website I checked is sold out and they are not backorderable. I put my name on an email list to be automatically notified if they get them back in stock so I may wait it out.

The Neos is a very accurate and dependable striker fired pistol. $215.00 is a good price. The Ruger has an internal hammer and a 1911 style grip angle. The Neos has a small grip that is excellent for small hands. My Neos gets shot more than any of my other guns. The kids love the thing and always clamor to use it.

FYI, the following is OLD but if you buy a used NEOS may be applicable..from AR15.com;

Some Beretta Neos pistols are being recalled due to problems with the safety. Go to this web site and enter your serial number to see if your pistol is affected. Full return instructions are included.

Over the past 50 years I've had two (2) S&W 9mm subject to recall..both were used guns, both handled promptly by S&W..an early 59 and a more recent 6906. Both times the recall completion was stamped discreetly on the part, making easy to tell whether or not it had been completed.

I only have Mk I and Mk II,,maybe only a bazillion rounds through both- great pistols.

I have a Stainless Mark III hunter target grade with fluted barrel. Came with Crimsom Trace laser grips. Super sweet and accurate. can shoot sparrows out of tree with the laser sight. I bought it for coon hunting, and squirrels. Cost 2 mos. ago $675.

Thanks for the replies guys but my dealer got ahold of me today and after digging around somemore he came to the conclusion that he can still get the one I want so this is no longer an issue. I will have it and my .22-250 in my hands a week from Friday. Would be sooner but hes busy with the bodywork job. Oh well I can wait. Got plenty of others to get the job done.
