I have one, Ruger 44mag Carbine.
I have killed a few deer with it.
Does any one else hunt with one.
I just use iron sights.
I shoot about a 3in group @ 100yds
Nice brush and woods rifle.
Just asking??

I've got an older one with tubular mag. I flirted with a low power scope for a while, but now it's back to open sights. I've killed an axis deer and a few hogs with it. Back when I had access to property with hogs I used to like creeping through the thick brush with that rifle and busting hogs as they bolted from their beds. I haven't shot it in a few years, but now that I'm thinking about it I ought to dig it out and chase jackrabbits around in the desert.

Love mine I put a Burris fastfire on mine. Lots of whitetail didn't like that rifle at all. I used it a lot when I lived in WV. I used to use it when we ran bear with hounds so it has probably 8-10 bear shot with it between me and my dad. I haven't used it since I moved to Wa it's a lot more open here so I use 257 WTBY or 6.5 creedmoor primarily now.

It's not a 44 Mag, but I just bought a 9mm AR 10.5" pistol that I'm gonna go calling with soon. This thing is a riot! I have it sighted in at 25 yards, its 1.3" high at 50, on at 75 yards and 3.2" low at 100 yards. I think it will be plenty accurate inside calling ranges.

It was always pretty popular in the north east, especially Maine. I shot my brothers a few times and didn't care for it myself, finding it hard to get back on target between shots. They have a reputation for being trouble free,

Have a 9.5” barrel 44 mag SRH that I’m going to take out one year for deer but mainly use my new encore with a custom 16.5” barrel 357 Remington max that is a blast to shoot. It hammers the deer

Not a Ruger but I have a JM Marlin 1894 in 44Mag with a Williams peep sight that I shoot the occasional White Tail out behind the house with.

230gr Winnie white box shoots into an inch at 50 and hammers Deer.

Yes.

My grandfather had one of the 70s versions (5-shot tube mag). When I was growing up I coveted that gun. Over time, as the grandson who was into guns/hunting, I gradually inherited the family legacy firearms. I had my eye on that one.

I was disappointed when my grandfather gifted it to my brother-in-law. I really like the guy so no ill will. Well after several years he couldn't get it to cycle so he gave it to me and said if I could get it to shoot I could keep it. Well I figured out the issue was factory loads used too fast of a burning powder and led to low pressure at the gas port, so I loaded up H110 and AA2400 loads and it cycled like a champ. Took many deer with it and enjoyed hunting with granddad's gun (he's been long gone now).

Well, I could no longer stomach the thought that keeping the gun could cause any ill feelings so I gave it back to BIL along with loaded ammo and bought another online. I prefer peep sights and had installed them on that one, and was lucky enough to find one with factory peep. Unfortunately the seller packed the gun terribly and the front sight was broken in shipping, so I am fixing that and have not shot the rifle yet.

The Ruger 44Mag semi auto carbine is one of my favorite rifles. I've taken deer from 20 to 180 yards with it. I find 240gr XTPs over a stiff load to be great. They tend to leave the jacket under the offside hide at closer ranges but leave plenty of damage and 2 holes.

Used one to shoot a bear in the face once, Probably save my life. Glad I didn't have a bolt gun that time, the follow up shot was a trigger pull away! I look for them at gun shows, but haven't seen one for a long time.

Not a Ruger, but a Marlin1894 44 Mag. I absolutely love my lever action Marlins. People overlook a lever action rifle, fast handling and very accurate. Nice thing about a 44 Mag or 357 Mag, you can carry only 2 different calibers of ammo, for 2 Rifles and 2 Revolvers.

Also have a 1894 357 Mag, 444Marlin, 1895GS 45-70, and a couple 30-30’s.
