Ruger American .243 WIN

For anyone who is curious about these rifles I am very pleased with mine. Very solid and rugged construction. I have used it for coyote hunting for the last few months and it has stood up to getting beat around a little bit very well. I shot less than 1 inch groups at 100 yards out of the box with Federal 80 gr. Soft Points. The rifle is also very light and does not bother me to carry it around the field for extended periods of time. For the money this is a great investment.

Last Saturday I bought one in left hand .22-250, but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I will fix that tomorrow as we finally have a break in the weather. The American rifle is a lot of gun for the money. I mostly have left hand Savages, but the faster twist 1 in 10 caught my attention.

Just finnished scoping an American for a friend, in 243 with a Minox Z3 in 3x9 with BDC reticle that they are almost giving away at the moment, customers paid double two years ago for same scope!
Anyway when it came to lining it up, I had a bunch of 70gr Nosler Armageddons here I use in my Hawkeye.
Scope tracked like a Nightforce, on the button in 3 shots , shot a 5 shot group @ 100 you could cover with a quarter.
I would have to say the American shoots way better than its pricetag indicates it would! The clip is the smoothest fitting,
Easyest to slap in you can imagine, far better design that the one in my Styer Professional was! Not crazy about the trigger, but something you would get used to.......... for under $500 compleate it is unbeatable value.

I really wanted a Ruger American over the Savage I bought... only reason I didn't is because I would have had to replace the stock right away. The stock was super easy to twist. I generally shoot with a sling wrapped around my arm and put a lot of torque on the stock.

For the price they are nicer than the other low end stuff like the Axis. Very close to Savage 10/110... replace the stock and I think I would take it over a vanguard S2.
