Ruger American Predator vs. Savage Axis II

Ruger American Predator. I owned a savage once. ONCE! It's a mistake never to be repeated. Lol.
I don't have the predator anymore either but it was a fun, accurate, and economical rifle.

Predator was my choice mainly because it comes threaded(Suppressor). Also like the barrel being thicker than a normal barrel and not quite a bullbarrel. the trigger is good too.

I chose the Predator for much the same reasons as sdprairieghost
even though I have several Savages, none of which are Axis
models.....just never could cozy up to the Axis and cannot
really explain why.

Don't care for the stock on either rifle, and have a Boyd's
laminate on order for the Predator.

These ?'s pretty much always should be reworded to "Which one do you own" vs which would you buy. Only a tiny tiny percentage of respondents will have actually owned both to be able to give a fair assessment. Ask a guy who's dad always drove ford and he will always promote ford and never buy a chevy. And going off of that, the ford guy can't actually say why ford is better, but will just tell you chevy sucks. The only thing they will agree on is don't buy a dodge

So I'll do the same

I have an edge, which predates the original axis (same rifle different name) which predates the axis 2 obviously. I like it, it's stupidly accurate when you consider it was $209 brand new, pretty darn accurate compared to several 'better' rifles. And it was the first savage I owned, now I've got a few. My first rifle was a ruger mkII, still have it, but no predator experience. Accurate and reliable but it's kind of boring to me for some reason. Now I have 2 ruger rifles, they sit in the safe while the savages go and hunt.

The axis 2 I believe is the same as the axis 1 plus an accutrigger, which I don't see the reason to have, so it's not a benefit to me. Priced identically I would lean savage because I've had good experiences with them and I like to tinker, so easy barrel swaps are a plus. I've read enough good about the american line to consider it, odds are it would come down to price for me.

Having owned a Savage Axis 308 and a Ruger American 22-250.........I'd stick with the Ruger.

Bolt lift is way better.

Has a heavier barrel on the model you want.

both have same "accutrigger" equals out?

Ruger might not feed a round but the Savage might not eject a round, equals out?

Accuracy , I know their are lots of variables, was better/easier to get with the Ruger (never hand loaded Ruger but the Savage I did after shooting 2-4" patterns with every factory ammo I tried)

Both have crappy although use able plastic stocks.

That's my opinion based on the two rifles being priced equally.
