Ruger American ranch rifle 7.62X39

I thought it might make a decent short range calling gun for brushy areas. pretty light weight and short, also enough caliber if you have an opportunity at deer.

I just bought one from a member here, picked it up this last Monday in fact. Because of all the rain this week, I've not been able to get out and sight it in. I'm looking at it as a truck gun, so after I get done doing some load development I will be putting something in the area of a 2x7 or maybe a red dot on it.

Headed out Wednesday to do some load testing on the 7.62x39 version of this rifle. I can't believe how light this gun is. I'll be trying a variety of Wolf, Tula, and Private Partizan ammo 123 grain bullets. Not sure what optic I'm going to use, either a 3x9 Tasco I have lying around here or a Bushnell red dot.

Went to the range this AM and was very pleased with the results of the Ruger American Ranch Rifle, After getting on paper at 50yds I took it out to 100yds, adjusted slightly and turned in an honest 1 MOA, 3 shot group, centered, with a warm gun No failures to feed, no failures to fire, even with the crappy Wolf 123gr. Hps,
I was using. Handloads should improve this. At best it's a 200yd gun, but then at my age I have 200yds eyes.

Just using regular old Wolf 123gr HP ammo. It shot pretty well, but then it's bored for .311 ammo. I checked that out with Ruger.

I shot a box of Tula HP's and they shoot pretty good. Of all the "cheap" ammo, is one substantially more accurate? Hornady looks good but pricey.

Just put a 3x9 Nikon on a Ruger American in 7.62 x 39 Russian and got it sighted in today. A friend of mine is using the 8M3 124 gr Tula ammo from SGammo.com out of Stillwater Okla, with great results so I shot this first. At 100 yds my first 5 shots went into 1" so I quit right there and ordered 2 more cases of the 8M3.

I looked at that rifle it is very nice.
I have a Ruger 77 in 338win & 220swift
I looked at the 7,62X39 and the 300acc.
So, I bought a CZ 527 in 300acc, better ammo.
It comes with a set trigger and threaded for a can.
I shoots 300acc sub Sonic's. All I hear is the firing pin.
I bought a Boyds stock. I sent them a picture and they sent this back.

The more I shoot this little rifle, the better I like it. Plenty accurate over it's effective range, and a bit more thump than the .223 Rem, without the recoil of a .308 Win. Just right for me.
