i never had a handgun that i liked. but i finally found one. a ruger gp100 357, 4" barrel. i would love to shoot a yote with it. does anyone know if i can get a scope mount for that gun even though it's a 4" model? how hard do you think it would be to shoot a yote with it? thanks lee

Just practice with the sights... it'll be a good personal defense gun. If you practice, you can hit dogs with it regularly at 25 yards, and from a rest, at about 50 yards or farther...

I wouldn't scope it. It'll be a lot more useful to you without the scope.

I've got a 3" version which I think is more comfortable to fire and better balanced than any of my Smiths or Colts. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Buffalo Bore has a load that runs a 158gr JPH to produce almost 800 ft lbs out of a 6" barrel. Would turn a yodel dog upside down. Don

I have the 6" version of the same model.

Two loads that mine really likes is 18.0g of IMR 4227 with a 125g @ 1800 fps and the 125g HP with 18.7g of H110.

I have killed 8 yotes with this pistol and even more Javelina, same load.

You don't need a heavy bullet for yotes, you want the speed.

Brownell's has a replacement set of sights that allow you to get a fine aim, which are a Beade front sight and a V notch rear.

I have the six inch GP-100 and it is one of the most accurate 357's i have owned and i have owned a bunch in the past 40 years . I use the Speer 158 gr Gold Dot with Win 296 powder very good all around load from deer to varmints. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

bea175,

Have you dug any of those bullets out of a coyote and examined the expansion... That is some real world info I would like to have... Thanks.
