Ruger Hawkeye

Whats a Ruger 77 Hawkeye? What is the difference between it and a 77? Whats a LC-6 tigger? (a better trigger but still 5 lbs and non-ajustable?) Sounds like a new trigger for sure. Stainless/synthetic.

It is listed as coming in .358 Win. hmmmmmmmmmm

I have had this .358 itch for some time.

There's not a whole lot of difference from the MKII M77 rifle, except for a few "tweaks". Or so I have been told. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

The trigger has less creep, and is more crisp.

Better looking and thinner forearm on the stock.

Several other small things also, that don't amount to much. At least, that's what I have read from several tests of the rifle.

In my opinion, if you are looking for a Ruger, find someone with MKII rifles in stock, and make them an offer. Our local Sportsmans Whse has their entire inventory of Rugers marked down from $60 to $170. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You can read about the Hawkeye on Ruger's website here:

they changed the finish on the stainless barrel to a more glossy finish as well. they're supposed to be a little nicer, but you can get a mkII for a good price right now. i got a good deal on one, but now i'm wishing i'd got the laminated stock. just put on a new scope, haven't had enough time to shoot it yet.

Ever read much about the .358 Winchester? My advise is don't buy it. If you do, everything else you have larger than a .22 won't do anything but collect dust. I just had a short action Remington customized with a new Lilja 35 caliber barrel. Bought a new .358 Winchester reamer and had the barrel chambered, head spaced, and cut to 24" with a straight target crown. It's a thumper to be sure. The most under rated, efficient cartridge out there. Will outdo an '06 any way you cut it. Try and find another manufacturer chambering .358 Winchester...you won't in a bolt gun. The Browning BLR is chambered for .358 Winchester. I have one of those also and it is the heat on whitetails. Good Luck
