I have a chance to buy a ruger 77 22-250 in great condition. It has a wood stock with a black forend so I'm thinking it's an ultralight? Anyways do any of you guys have any experience with one of these rifles? Thinking it would make a good little calling rifle. Thanks

Ruger M77 is a great rifle, I seem to remember someone having issues finding the right scope rings for them though...or they were very expensive....?
It sucks getting old.

I have an M77 MKII SS in 22-250. Just had it cut to 18” and threaded. I didn’t like the stock (dovetail) rings, so I put on a Weig-A-Tinny dovetail to Picatinny convrsion. So far so good.

That is a good price for that rifle, 22-250 is a nice round.
Check the bore out ask where it came from get some back ground.
Run the serial number to see what year it was made.

Mine is a M77 MKII SS in gray finish in 220 Swift, 26 inch barrel and varmint stock. Scope is a Leupold Leupold Vari-X III 4.5 X 14.

I have one pictured above in .22-250 and another one (unfired) in .223 Remington. The .22-250 shoots very well. I think I paid $75 for Ruger factory 30mm rings to mount a Leupold scope on it.

Ruger Rings are not cheap at all. I was lucky those came with the rifle.

Local shop has a Ruger 77 sporter barrel in 223 used with just a plain Tasco scope that they want $600 for, I would say yours is a fair deal.

Had one years ago, it was a decent rifle. Like others have stated check the bore out, lots of high round count rigs floating around out there. See if the shop will run a bore-scope down the barrel (or at least check out the throat with a bore-light).
