Ruger single six fixed sights

I have the itch for a single six and do like the looks of the fixed sight model however I want it to be a all around pistol not just a dispatch one for the trap line. I want to be able to pot a grouse or rabbit at reasonable pistol range . Also does the 22wrm shoot to the same place as 22 lr ? I am trying to decide if the adjustable sight model is more practical . Please chime in if you have some experience with these pistols ! I'm all ears.

My uncle has one. I always thought the .22 mag was more accurate out of it. Personally I don't think you'll be disappointed with either fixed or adjustable sights.

I have one.....it's pretty accurate with the 22LR cylinder but I haven't shot the WMR cylender yet....I've only owned for about six years but I'll get around to it eventually... Ha

I have a MKIV 22/45 that I had Volquertson slick up that's very accurate but to be honest the SS is just as accurate after I put a spring kit in it....certainly minute of Bunny within reasonable distance. I love mine....I'd never sell it.

A friend bought me some factory wood grips for it when I first bought it.

I just bought a matching Bearcat Shopkeeper that will take over dispatch duty next year.

When, I bought the pistol. I shot the 22mag cylinder some.
It shot a little higher than the 22LR, more kick.
Since, then I only shoot shorts, when I am in the field.
Mine has adjustable sights that I have never had to move them.
I like CB caps around the house makes less noise than my air rifle.
22 short hollow points do a good job on squirrels, rabbits too.
I was lucky to fine a used Bianchi holster, (#1 small SA).

Thanks Repete and Willy.Repete is yours the 5.5 in. barrel ?I do like those wood grips better than the black ones that are on the new ones.

The first Rugers, like the old flat gate models were 22LR. When they started the convertables they were bored for the 22mag, which is larger than 22lr, or so I've been told, so the 22 mag usually shoots better than the 22LR. I had a Colt SA convertible for a while, a beautiful piece, but couldn't get the thing to shoot to POA with anything so I traded it off.

As finicky as rimfires can be about ammo and considering it's a dual cylinder gun, I'd want adjustable sights. I've owned three or four Single Sixes over the years. They're pretty accurate but the triggers definitely need to be improved to realize their full potential.

I'm ready to buy another one. I had the first model that didn't come with the mag cylinder - big mistake letting it go. I shot a pheasant with mine at a distance we won't talk about and since then I was hooked. I already have an El Paso leather holster waiting for it.

Gun show this weekend, who knows.

I must be a sucker for looks (and about $100 ). A sale item and I can save a few bucks (maybe ). I suppose if I don't like FS model and have to sell it and get the AS model it will be a learning experience . Will report after It get here.

Congrats on the new shooter. Ruger Single Six is on of my favorites. You should be happy with the fixed sights...so happy you may need to buy it a sibling.

Here is mine...its is 76 model

Post some pics when yours arrives.
