Ruger single six

I just bought a 1981 single six convertable and the previous owner lost the magnum cylinder. How easy is ruger to deal with to get a new one? Its a 5 1/2 inch barrel. Looking forward to popping some rabbits and dispatching trapped coyotes this year. Ohh, and where should I look for a holster? I want a holster belt combo with .22 beltloops in the back.

I would think they would drop right in. Dont know if theres difference between old model and new model cylinders but dont think there is.

Sweet! Ill just order one then. By the way, this gun rocks. Went out for a quick desert romp this morning and was able to get about ten jacks in a short period of time. This little 5.5" barrel and open sites is very acurate, even though the kills seem a bit slower compaired to a rifle shooting the same .22lr ammo.

You may want to check with Ruger first....my last Single Six,SS, had the last two(2) digits of the serial number scribed on both cylinder faces. An included caveat said to contact Ruger IF the numbers did NOT match.

All I know.

Have fun.

Well after some reading even if the cylinder fits there may be a timing issue. This topic popped up many times and it seems the best recourse is to send it to Ruger for a new cylinder, fitting, and timing set. Think I would go that route as I would not want you to get injured going off my earlier advice. I had no idea on the timing issue but it now makes sense that everything needs perfect alignment before round detonation. Sending it in didnt seem that more expensive either. Bout a hundred bucks from what others were saying. Good job on the jacks, btw

Thats what ihad heard, but you never know these days. Ruger wont even sell me a hammer for an sp101 because its a "fitted part". Thanks for all the help.
On a side note, how do the 22lr and 22 mag ballistics look from a 5 1/2 " barrel?
Thanks
Boe
