i'm finally going to get an AR. i've really been looking at the new ruger 556c. Can anybody give me any experiences with this rifle? i've just read about it on the website and the article they last had in predxtreme. any target pics you may have at 100 yards would be very helpful, also likes and dislikes. thanks

Factory trigger stinks... Mine was about 9lbs. other than that, absolutely no complaints. I have only shot mine with iron sights so far (saving up for a nice scope) it feeds everything and stays clean. PMags work well and are light. Troy sights are good quality.

I don't have one. I'm a Ruger fan and an AR fan so it looked like a match made in Heaven, but when their AR was introduced I thought it was a little overpriced for what it was.

Even being a piston driven upper, the MSRP of 2K was a little out of my league. I also thought for that kind of money they would have put a better buttstock on it. If it had had a Magpul PRS it would have been a little better, but I just thought it was overpriced.

I'm sure it's a great rifle, just not for me.

Thanks for the reply's. Sportsmans has the sr for $1500 in utah. think it's either this or the Byron South r15 they have on clearance at Cabela's for $1300. I'm not a fan of the camo though. How do these two AR's compare?

Yes trigger stinks... easy to drop in a Geissele SSA Super Semi-Automatic Combat Trigger... now it's sweetness.

Be forewarned... once you get into an AR you will be tempted by upgrade madness and unable to stop yourself from accessorizing like a woman.

pwsamiam- you are correct!! It is a sickness. A horrible, metastasizing tumor. Once you start, you will be just like a teenage girl shopping.

Your rail covers don't color coordinate with your furniture, and Jimmy has a cooler scope than I do, and I dream about a Larue QD mount, but I'm gonna hafta sell my second born child to buy one. Etc, etc

I made all that up... But it is nice to be able to customize your rifle to your personal taste. I bought my Ruger used at a local shop for $1250 out the door. It was "used". A person with more money than myself bought it new at the shop, owned it 2 months, shot it very little, and traded it for something else. I just happened to be there at the right time. And had been rat-holing money for 3 months to buy an AR.

It is a sickness. I dreamt last night that I was showing some people how easy it is to break down and properly clean a bcg. What's up with that?

When these rifles came out there were on the higher price side, but they have come down in price. I purchased mine from a friend who owns a gun and pawn shop. He charged me 10% over his cost for just ordering it. About $1200

Purchasing the rife was only the first step, it is the accessiories that really cost you, but hey it is a guy thing!

The trigger is hard pulling and it is somewhat heavy. I had to start lifting weights to pack this thing around all day in the hills..lol..

I love it the most of all my other AR's I have had.

i couldn't find any info on the sr-556sc model but from the picture on the site, until i recieved mine. SC stands for State Compliance. comes with same stuff as the regular SR556. the quad rail with the 3 hand covers, the flip up sights, hogue grip. The differences on the SC is the 10 round mags (3). the butt is not adjustable and the barrel has no flash hider and is 2" shorter.
