i havent decided on either one yet but these are the 2 I like the best .I noticed the sx3 is built in belgium & the maxus is built in japan .which one has the better quaility .I thought I read somwhere not to be the ones built in japn due to poorer quality .To me I would think with the maxus price tag it should have equal or better quality .

I still havent ruled out the vinci either!

I'll give the little bit of info I have but I'm not sure it will help.

I use a FN SLP MKI and it basically the same thing as the SX2. It has been excellent for me. No issues with it and it always performs well.

It's been run hard for 3gun and has not given me any issues. I use it for predators, but that doesn't give it nearly the test that 3 gun does. It has yet to let me down.

I weighed it against all of the other nice brands out there and decided on it. In the end (for me) it came down to the FN SLP MKI and the Benelli M2. I went with the FN.

Good luck in your decision.

The one SX3 I have experience with wasn't a good one at all. It got shipped off quickly.

I have heard some very nice things from the guys over on crowbusters about the Maxus. It's supposed to be very nice. I've yet to handle one.

I've been looking for an semi-auto shotgun too, and I think I've got my heart set on an M2. To me, it felt better than the Vinci.

I have hunted a maxus since last october, ducks, geese and coyotes in all types of weather,no issues.
Not a single hiccup.
I did break a small locating tab off the inside of the forearm but that was my falt.(droped gun after hunting in sub zero temps all day)Even after being honest and explaining my bad to browning they replaced the forearm quickly under waranty with no issues.
I love my maxus and would buy a second one in a heartbeat if i needed another auto.
I would recomend the maxus to anyone, great gun.

SX3 is a great shotgun, I have put at least 1000 rds through mine in the last 2 years. And I can honestly say I have never had problems with it. I have the Field model with a 26 inch barrel. Its light and handles great. It shoots the cheap walmart stuff as well as AA and Golden Pheasents. I use it for quail, dove and some coyote work as well. Oh yeah it works great for shooting clays as well. Def one of my favorite guns, hope it helps.

In general, Japanese quality rivals or bests European quality.
This is a general statement, and of course has exceptions.
I have inspected both shotguns, and both showed the quality
one would expect at that price point. Accounts of reliability
also show both shotguns are reliable, in both high volume
shooting, and extreme conditions. Me personally, I will
probably purchase the Maxus, just because it points for me
a slight bit better. It is a small detail, but the higher
rib on the SX3 changes the gun mount for me, so when I
transition between my different shotguns, I get a few misses
until I settle in to the new mounting. I am not a Benelli
fan(long story), so if there wasn't a Maxus, I would be
looking hard at a SX3, for a new 12 ga. shotgun.
