S&W Model 29 sights

Hello all. I use a S&W model 29-2 .44mag for deer hunting. I have it topped with a Leupold Gilmore LG-35 red dot, 4 mil dot. This has been a decent set up for me, but I am tired of carrying around all this weight. The balance of this pistol is also poor with the red-cot and B-Square rail attached. I am interested in removing the red-dot and replacing with quality iron sights. I would like to attach target style sights to it. Actually if any of you ever had a Thompson Center Hawkin with the elevated bead front sight and the rear sight that had the cut out for the bead you know what I am asking for. If anyone can help please let me know. Websites are welcome. I can shoot 50yds with the blade that it came with, but would really like to go with the elevated bead. I cannot believe that I have come up with an new idea for a sighting system on a wheel gun. Thanks! GMAN_R@yahoo.com
P.S. If any of you pistol hunters have never tried the Winchester Platnium Tip ammo, try them. It is the bomb.

GMAN R,

Sounds like what you are looking for is a "ghost ring" sight which is a peep site for handguns. Try doing a search on the net on "ghost ring sights". Also Millet makes some very good aftermarket handgun sights and they have a website.

The factory iron sights are pretty good once you color the red insert in the front one black. I doubt you will find any better.

I know Millett makes handgun sights because I have a set sitting atop my Glock 31.

Try http://www.millettsights.com/open.html and click on Series 100 adjustable sights

These sights are very quick to aquire and the front sight is narrow enought to let some light in on either side so you get on target quickly for fine work at a distance.

And I don't even get a kickback.
