well I finally got my BH209 breech plug for the optima and it has a tool that fits in the plug incase it should be hard to remove. the tool was not with the new optima and I wondered what the recess was in the face of the original plug, now I know.
the other day I shot the optima with the original breech plug with the flat face and used T7 powder pellets and T7 primers and tc yellow sabots and 230gr hornady xtp bullets. the results were not good at 70yds.
today with the BH209 breech plug and granular T7 powder T7 primers the results were better. I shot ten times and counting the two wide shots the group was 4", the other six were two clusters inside the black 2 3/4" apart at 70yds.
the next step is to use the BH209 powder with the fedA primers and the tc 300gr black sabots.
the results I found is the BH209 plug is similar to the encore breech on the part that faces the granular powder as they are both concave. spike
