Savage 110 Magnum re-barrel project....

I have a Savage 110 7mm Mag ,Magunum action, that I am wanting to rebarrel to a wildcat. I have not done any research but am needing something on a belted Cartridge. I already have a 7mm Mag, 350 Rem mag, and a 375H&H. How about something that is smaller and faster. I am currently building a 6.5x284 on another 110 I have but am looking for another deer and antelope gun for the lady. Any rounds built on the 7mm Rem Mag case I should look at? Not looking at Weatehrby rounds. Probably good....just not my deal. Give me some ideas. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

you could try something based off the 375 ruger case. I have been thinking about a 338 or 35.

338 Lapua perhaps? Or go hardcore and do a 458 Lott if the magazine will hold the length. If not just go with 458 win.

Nothing wrong with the 7mm STW. That big 8 mag case necked to 7mm gives a boost to the 7mm Rem mag. Whoops it's not a wildcat

264 Win Mag, which is actually the origin of the 7mmRemMag... just a necked up 265WM.
Not really a Wildcat but you could always Ackley Improved it.

Try one of these if a belted wildcat is a must.

25 ICL Magnum – (264 Win necked down blown out w/ 45 degree shoulder)

75 gr. Bullets = 4200 fps
87 gr. Bullets = 4000 fps
100 gr. Bullets = 3800 fps

I take it that this gun will be for a woman, is that correct? How recoil sensitive is she, as most of those suggested offer a bit more "thump" than many women would care to experience?

6.5 rem mag., or 264 win mag. not wildcats, but good cartridges.

Thanks guys... I am open to other calibers also. I have a custom 7mm Mag already so thats why I am wanting something diffrent. I have another 110 that I am makeing a 6.5-284 on. Otherwise I would think seriously about the 264. How does the 264 Win compare too the 6.5-284??

264 has more cap. than the 284 case. The 264 will sure put a grin on your face.
