Savage 12FV pricing at Gander Mountain

My local Gander Mountain has three Savage 12FV's on the shelf. Both the 223 and 22/250 are $499, while the 204 is $599. I asked the sales person why this is and I might as well have just asked the rifle itself. Is this a Gander Mountain thing or is this a common practice with the 204?

I would say not a common practice. Just an FYI, I paid $389 for mine from Impact Arms (a sponsor). I don't think they sell for that now, but I found it on their internet site and drove over and bought it (about 10 miles).

I have seen the exact opposite here lately. I went to Dicks to get a 250 and they said their low price was only on the .204 in savage. I was pissed because they were advertising all 12fv's for $489 or $500 or what ever it was. SW has a .204 thats a savage predator for like $599 here that I saw yesterday. BUT NO 22-250? go figure.

I'm not sure about the price on the savage 12 but the price on the tikka I bought was 590 and I ordered it at a gun shop for 530 after tax. I think that gander mountain is to high on there guns.

Why is it that they charge more for a certain caliber??

That kind of marketing tends to round me off a bit....

Does it cost more to make a .204 than a .223? No.

Our Gander is super high on rifles here in WI... I picked up my Savage model 10 Predator for $530.00 and they wanted $699.00 at the time. I just saw tonight that they reduced the price to $649.00 but that's still a huge ripoff /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
