Ok guys a have a factory savage 220 swift that I have had for several years want to get going with a 52g hpbt sierra matchkings. Will the barrel stability that bullet and will reloaded 15 be good powder thanks.

RL15 is my go to powder also. But in my .22-250 Ackley Improved. 38.5 grains and 60 grain Bergers.

It had a 26” barrel at first and was running about 3800fps, then I cut 4” off when I got a suppressor now with a 22” barrel I am getting 3650fps. Best powder I’ve tried.

My go to powder for my 220 Swift using Sierra 55g HPBT bullets in IMR 4064. I use RL15 for my 375 H&H, clear on the other end of the scale, but have never considered it in my Swift.

RL-15 will work perfect for your swift. Its my alternative powder when I was out of 4064.
Only problem is as of now you cant get anymore of it. 1-14 and faster will stabilize a 52 gr bullet.

IMR 4064 has been a go to powder in the Swift for a long time. I like to use AA2700 myself.
I worked up a load for my Swift using the Barnes 36 gr Varmint Grenade and AA2700. It is a screamer bullet in the Swift but I have used it a lot as the Sierra 55 gr HPBT (#1390) is what my "go to" is in my Swift and what I have my dies set up for as well as my CDS dial on my scope.

I have used the 4064 for varmints, and yes your rifle will handle the 52 gr bullets just fine! I tried some 3031 once but it did not do well, think it was a bit too fast!! Have had good success with H380 and the lighter bullets!!
