Savage is going to add the .260 remington to it's 2011 lineup. It looks like there will be a model 11fcns and a 16fcss, so if your thinking about a .260 and a savage fan this might be for you. blue

I'm a big fan of the 6.5x55s so no surprise, I am also a 260 fan on short actioned rifles. Too bad the 260 isn't more popular.

TwoSeventy, i'm afraid i don't know when. Everybody i talk to around here says it will be spring or later, savage has a habit of offering something that hasn't made it to the production stage, probably to test the waters.

Coyotejunki, it is a great round and i don't know why more people don't use it either. I'm about to start a new .260 build in a savage model 16 short action and a criterion, (krieger) 20" 1:8 twist heavy mag barrel. It should make a smoke'n brush gun. blue

I hope Savage "Corrects" the barrel twist this time around. The 260 barrels when Savage had them in production 5 years back was 1/9 twist. The 1/8 suits the 260 across the 120gr to 140gr range of bullet weights IMO.

Hoggy

Yep, that my only concern as well. I have plenty of rifles for the 75-105gr range, the purpose of this rifle is to run the 90-140gr range though i plan to just use sst 140's. blue

Just an update for those who care:

Savage is now listing the model 11FCNS in 260 Rem. on their website. The listed twist rate is 1:8 in a 22" barrel.
