Last year I got into this with an unfinished project I bought. Answer is yes and no.
It was a Stevens 200 short action with a stainless model 12 22-250 barrel. The mag box was missing from the action but it came with a brand new accustock and detachable mag. For the old style recoil lug to work I just ground the recoil lug down to fit and I think I took a little off the sides of the aluminum bedding block where the recoil lug sits. Took maybe 10 minutes.
You could also I believe just change out recoil lugs for a newer style one if you are familiar with changing savage barrels.
I had it rechambered to 22-250 ai too because I was only into the rifle $350.
One thing I’m not sure on and I’ve read varying reports is if the action is supposed to make solid contact where the actions screws attach as mine is just shy of that and is held wedged into the aluminum bedding block.
