Savage axis/edge scope mount?

Are there any options other than the EGW one piece mount for mounting a scope on a Savage Axis/Edge rifle? I am looking to pick up one of these guns and would prefer a 3x9, but I have heard that there might be a problem. Thanks

You can check Midway and TRY some of THESE or something like those. I have not tried them but this was going to be my second option. I don't see why they wouldn't work but I just went EGW because Joebobs had a sale on them.

I don't think there would be a "problem" with mounting the EGW. There are lower profile style bases, as dmpowder linked, for those that want a smaller scope. The EGW scope base is tailored more towards the guys shooting with big long-range scopes, so they're a bit higher to accommodate the larger obj bell. They also allow the base to be made with an MOA slope. A 20MOA base would be impossible in a 1/8" mount.

checkout the burris extreme tactical style at optics planet.they are 17.00,good mounts i have them on my 22-250 with burris zee rings.good setup and wont break the bank

The EGW rail gives endless scope and ring combinations . I have 2 mounted on my Edge rifles . They allow for short and long scopes with the mounting positions . They are well made also .

I'm not sure of the brand but I have a 2 piece mount from the gun store on my Edge 22-250. I have a Redfield Revolution 3x9x40 mounted on it with no problems.

Yes ,it gives good adjustability so you can move the rings around to allow for scope tube length adjustment and allows you to slide the scope forward or back depending on how you space the rings on the rail . You are not stuck with the fixed posisioning like the stock mounts .

The 20MOA will be for longer range shooting to let you use less internal adjustment in your scope. Generally speaking, you should be able to get away with the 0MOA for most shooting unless you intend to stretch your legs on range.
