Did you contact Savage about it?
Coburn saved the company and rebuilt it with quality and excellent customer service and also significant cuts to the product line.
They (Savage) are a proud bunch when it comes to their rifles; I'd give it a shot and see what happens. You have nothing to lose. There might be an issue w/modifying the stock and trigger though...
