Savage MKII F...thoughts?

Last year I had asked about a good cheap 22lr to have for squirrel and other small game. You all gave me a lot of good info and I was gonna scoop up a Marlin model 60 but with the ammo shortage it just wasn't worth it so the money went to bow related stuff. Now with more 22 ammo showing up, albeit expensive, I thought about looking into a the above mentioned gun. It's plain, it's light, it's a savage (love me some savage rifles)...I don't need anything fancy for something I won't use that often. They currently have the $25 rebate so I figure it might be a good deal. If you have one, how is the accuracy on them and do they have any major issues I should know about. Any and all info is much appreciated!

I have the MK II BTVSS and it loves CCI standard velocity. The only issue I've had was with the 5 round magazines (no feed ramp) but Savage sent me a 10 round mag (no addiditional charge) and never had a problem since.




Here is a 10 round group with CCI SV:

 
Love mine! I just but the MKII F black synthetic and it shoots 1"-1.5" groups at 100 yards with about any ammo I feed it. Groups at 50 yards just like his.^^

Now that's some good shootin! Do all the 5 rd mags have feeding issues or is it hit or miss?

Good to hear! I was just hoping they hold minute of squirrel head at 50 so it's nice to know it will do better. Did u have feeding issues?

I never have, but to be honest I bought have 3, 10 round mags I use and have never used the 5 rounder. Yes with my rifles preferred ammo it will make ragged holes at 50 yards, it makes ragged holes at 25 with anything.

If you go to Rimfire Central and look in the Savage section, there is a fix (yes, common) but since mine was new, I called Savage.

Sorry to bring back my old thread but I am still shopping around for a 22. I found an older MKII with the wood stock and the accutrigger at scheels. It has a couple knicks in the stock but otherwise in good shape for a used rifle. They wanted $160 for it. That sound over priced or about right?
 
Mine also shoots ragged holes and I've never had a problem with the 5rd mags.. Love this rifle and my 22 mag savage FV.. Damb good shooters. That price don't sound too bad to me.
