Well, due to extensive repairs on my truck, and so much indecision's on which one to get, my 1911 is on hold. But I did have enough left over to snag a Savage model 11 Trophy in 204 Ruger. Haven't got to shoot it yet but hoping it will be a typical Savage and be a shooter. Any one have said rifle and care to tell me about what I should feed it? Pro's and con's?

should of bought a tikka.

I have a CZ Model 527 "Varmint" .204 and it shoots the 39 grain Sierra Blitz King bullets really well.If I were You I would try the 32 & 40 grain Hornady Bullets for starters and see what others recommend they are shooting from their .204 Rifles?

I sold my Pro Hunter/204. It liked the 32 grain V-Max and H4895. I have them,35 grain Bergers and 39 Blitz Kings. Going to give them a go first. Using H4895 powder. At least it will give me a starting point.

Rusty- I have four Savages as we speak. I think they may be multiplying.

A little range report. Its windy and 55 degrees but still went to try out the Mod. 11. I took 5 rounds of 32 V-max, 5, 35 Bergers and 10, 39 Blitz Kings all loaded with H4895. I used 5 of the BK's to get a zero then started to try for groups. The V-Max shot a little under and inch, probably 5/8-3/4 inch, then the Bergers, did they ever shine!! A 5 shot group right at a half in. Three in a ragged hole and two just out. Then the BK's,think the wind got me on one but all 5 still well under an inch. I did adjust the trigger as low as it would go and swapped out the 3-9 Nikon for a 6-18 Redfield. So far very pleased with the results!! And NO, I didn't do a one shot and clean break in on the barrel. I cleaned it before going to the range and I'll give it a good cleaning today.

Hey psycodog youve got a GREAT rifle right there. Ive got a top bolt release savage 11 204 ruger and its a tack driver. I feed mine 28grs RL 15 with 32gr v-maxs for 1/2" groups at 100yds.

Although the stock is plastic, its a whole lot better than the one on my Axis. The trigger is an accu-trigger and after adjusting it, its a decent trigger for what it is. Breaks clean and could be lighter but way better than the Axis. I've only got 20 rounds down it so far but the accuracy is definitely there. Hopefully the wind lays down a little tomorrow so I can take it back out again.

I'll give the Reloader powder a try and see what happens. Thanks!

A buddy of mine picked up a new Savage 12fv last weekend and it really liked a stiff load of 10x with 35 bergers seated at 2.260 and 7.5 rems. Well under a half inch with the first 3 shot group in one hole. I have been putting a few Savages in the safe lately. Their out of the box accuracy is hard to beat.
