savage model 11 vs 111. the difference is?

whats the difference between a 11 and 111?

The 11 is a short action(223,243) and the 111 is the long action(30-06, 7mm Mag).

Savage does that for all their rifles. Two digits is short action and three digits is long action

I'd call it more like, two digits is "less long". Savage doesn't really make a "short action".

Unless you have a 111 in .223 or similar like mine.

There was a period (1988-1996) when all rifles offered in a short-action cartridge were built on long actions with a shorter magazine well cut in the bottom of the action...this was taken from the savageshooters website.

I'm thinking about doing a caliber change on mine and had/have a lot of learning to do. Now if I could only figure out what I want to do with it and then what caliber to go to!
