Just bought a Savage .243. Any input from the pros on this rifle. I plan to let my son deer hunt with it this fall but it shoots so well that I am going to lug it with me on a few coyote stands. What is the ideal .243 load for coyote? I have the rifle sighted in at 100 yards shooting tight patterns. Is this yardage recommended for coyote? I sighted the rifle with 100 gr. hornadays. Should I expect similar performance from a smaller grain bullet?

Well I can say I like the caliber you chose, I am a big 243 fan, I personally like the 95 gr win ballistic silver tip, it shoots great from my gun and holds its own with a well placed shot in not destroying too much fur, there are a few other bullets that I have tried and like very much, but I do not have all the reloading equip. yet to do my own I stick with the win. I have the Howa rifle topped off with a burris ballistic plex scope. I have it sighted in at 100 yrds and with the reticle in the ballistic plex it is very close to on at every 100yrd inc. out to 500 yrds. which for the most part in general is about 200 yrds longer than my average shot distance. The 70 hp is another good bullet, I have taken fox with it and it is not as bad as all the hype about it, I placed some very clean rib shots and did not damage the fur any worse than any other caliber. If you need any other info please feel free to drop me a line, I have some good reloads to try if you are going to reload yourself.
