I had a model 25 in 17 hornet and would not get one again.  It fed poorly and was always snagging/catching rounds when cycling from the clip.  The only rounds that fed some of the time were the vmax with polymer tip.  I tried handloading some hollow-points but they wouldn't feed at all, they just got hung up and damaged.  So then I thought I could single-feed rounds, but the way it was designed that was nearly impossible.  You just couldn't physically get your fingers in the opening and you had to shake the bullet around hoping it would find the chamber eventually.  And finally, the rifle never shot well at all for me.  Mine shot 2+ inch groups at 100 yards, and the groups would move around impact point randomly.  All that said, I'm not a Savage hater.  My favorite rifle of all is my Savage Model 40 in 22 Hornet.  That rifle has been flawless in performance and shoots dime-size groups at 100.  It, along with my Savage model 93 in 17HMR, are my go-to rifles for ground squirrel shooting.
