Just bought this gun brand new and the clip holds 5 but either spits them all out or won't stay locked in place keeps falling from the gun when trying to push the clip to lock into place.Any body help?Thx,Andy

I have this same gun. The only problem I have with it is that sometimes it is hard to get a round to feed from the clip to the chamber. I think that I have figured out that it is the angle the round is when setting in the clip. It has to be pointed up a little bit.

As for your problem. I have had no issues with the clip falling out on mine. There are times it seems a little tough to get seated correctly but once it gets set in there it does not fall out.

What do you mean by spits out the shells?

Possibly check the spring tension in the clip?

A magazine is something you read, like Oudoor Life or Playboy. Come on, lighten up, we're not idiots or jerks. The guy was just asking for help. We need to offer strangers a hand shake, not the back of our hand. Sorry if I offended anyone, not my intention.

I believe they use the same mag/clip (whatever) for the 93 in 17 HMR. I could never get mine to feed correctly and sent it packing. It also had a tendency to fall from the gun. I don't believe these are some of Savages finest as others that I know have had the same problems.

If the magazine is full, mine won't seat all the way with the bolt closed. It's probably falling out because you aren't able to push it up far enough to engage the magazine catch. Try it with 4 in the magazine, or put the magazine in with the bolt open.

I have a 93 left hand in 22 mag. Had it for about 4 years. I recently bought two extra clips for it and found that one of them doesn't stay locked in. I called Savage, they sent me a new one after I sent them the disfunctional one. That one had the same issues. What I found was that I had to file down the upper tabs on both sides. To me, it appeared that the tabs that keep it together were out too far and were preventing the mag from going far enough up into the mag well.

The "modification" works, but I would expect better quality from them on such an inexpensive part...

Had the same problem w/ a Savage 17 clip!! (Uh hmn... I mean magazine)

Every time I would load the clip with the bolt open, or shoot and eject the first bullet, all five bullets (Uh hmn... I mean rimfire cartridges) would fly/eject right out the clip. Extremely aggravating in the field..

I went to my local gun shop and they merely used pliers to push down the center piece of metal and close the upper side tabs on both sides. No issues since.

I also ordered two stainless steel clips for the Savage Model 93 in 17 hmr and no issues with those.

As far as the clip falling out, I only have trouble when I rest the gun right on the clip release to take a shot.

Obviously, after I would pick the gun up to eject the expended cartridge, the clip was not seated all the way. But that's me, not the gun or clip.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it,I will try working on the clip some or trying only 4 in it.You guys know of a good cheap scope illuminated reticle scope with 16,24,or 32 variable power looking at some barska or bsa, ncstar for this gun?Thx,guys

I had the same problem. Call savage they will send a new one. They don't want the old one. When i got the new one I bent the old one to match.Problem solved plus extra clip. And yes savage even calls them clips.

I use this clip as a spare in my old mossberg(the other clip was stollen when my house was robbed).

It takes a firm bump with my hand to seat it till it clicks. Did you give it a firm whack?
