Does anyone know when this rifle will be on the shelves? I have called several gun shops and nobody has one. I saw one on Gunbroker.com but I think it was a pre order.

Jerry's has them in stock in 22-250 only . Dealer is 485.50. You can get your dealer to order you one . /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I put in an order with two differend distributers for a Predator Hunter in .204 as soon as I returned from the SHOT show this year . Haven't seen one yet though .

I am still waiting to hear about mine also... I ordered one in 22-250. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I'll get some pics as soon as I pick it up!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

COOL. My dealer sayed it would be june before he went to a trade show and stocked up which is fine with me. I have a encore 22-250 to use.

Well I rush down there to get it, I may be too picky but,,,

First thing I see is it's "dipped" upside down, the seam is on the top of the stock. Where you cheek rests is two totally different color patterns, next thing is the flimsy stock on the forearm, you can actually move it about 1/8 inch by squeezing the barrel and the stock together with almost NO force!!! Third is the wieght, that thing is heavy!! To heavy for a carry gun like they say it is suposed to be.

When they we're first introduced (at the Shot Show, you can watch the video on the NRA site archives) it was to be a package gun, scope, rings, everything dipped in Mossy Oak Brush. Well now you can't get a scope or rings in the pattern, and let me tell you Brush and Realtree DO NOT go together.

The only thing going for it was the accu-trigger, right from the box it was 2.25 lbs.

I was pretty disappointed over all, needless to say that one WON'T be going in my collection. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

It is a savage, you didn't expect anything other than the "tupperware" stock did you.....I surely don't think you are too picky, it is just not as good as it sounds. It's nice to here some feedback from someone who has fingered them.

22-250's are on the shelf here in Massachusettes as well.

Gun looks pretty functional. Its a hunting gun.

The barrel is pretty beefy, and ya, the stock is pure Savage. Camo guns don't turn me on, but this one looks OK. Trigger is nice, and the accu-trigger has a 2 stage feel when you depress the sear block (or whatever they call it). I like that. The internal mag is not staggered, probably feeding better, but a little less capacity.

3 position tang safety is easy to reach and use. Big +

Monster bolt handle is real comfortable to find and use. Gun should work well with gloves on.

But if its as accurate as most folks report, it will be a good calling gun. I believe the twist is 1 in 12 in 250, and the 223 will be a 9 twist.

Price on the tag was $612.00

How much Does it weigh??

I'd say somewhere in between a Remington 700 and an AR.

The kid behind the counter didn't know. If you are used to a lightweight like a CZ it will feel heavy. If you are used to an AR, it will feel light. I'd guess 8 pounds.

If you are looking for a pretty gun this won't be for you, if you are into killin' stuff first and foremost the Savage is laid out very well.

I think its neat Savage recognizes the fact that lots of fellas hunt Preds, and have stepped up with a gun that appears to be made strickly for this purpose.

If you are a coyote hunter the 22-250 chambering in the Predator hunter may be all you will ever need. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

If Savage chambered this in 243, I'd buy one.

Looks like a no nonsense, take it out and beat the snot out of it hunting gun. That will appeal to many.

I was under the impression that it was closer to 7lbs???? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

JAMaidens - I own 700's, and the barrel is a good bit heavier conture on the Savage. Savage doesn't give a weight on their websight. But the barrel is 22 inches, and the gun I handled was scoped with a camo Nikon Buckmaster. Heavy Warne rings as well.

I like a light gun, and the Savage I handled was acceptable set up to hunt ..... barely. But still alot lighter than a 20 inch bull barreled AR.

Hope that helps!! JAMaidens, you are a hunter, you will most likely find this an excellent callin' gun. Like I said the controls are excellent. Safety, trigger and bolt are very well thought out. 'Bout the only thing a caller would want is a detachable mag or hinged floor plate for frequent stands.

I may even consider a 22-250 as well.

They do make it in 243, it's called the Whitetail Hunter and you can only get it through Jerry's Sports Center and they have them in stock right now. Call your dealer and ask them to check it out.

Thanks for the info sleddogg... I am still in the process of selling my Winchester Coyote for the switch up to Savage. The Winchester shoots great, just a little big for my needs now. Kind of funny looking back over the years and the guns... I started out with my 223 T/C then to various other heavy barreled Remington, Winchester, AR's, and now I am back looking for that short light gun I should have just stuck with! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I carried my Dad's 223 Vanguard while I was home last month. Man, that was one nice calling gun... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif I still find myself wanting to carry my old Savage 340 Hornet. That gun did a lot of shooting in it's time! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

JAMaidens - Seems we have both made the same journey........Heavy bolts, AR's etc..........I'm back where I started 30 years ago with a 700 and a Ruger Ultra Light 243 and couldn't be happier. But its been a fun journey........ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I had a chance to check out a Whitetail hunter the other day and I liked everything but the camo. I didn't think that the gun would be to heavy to carry and I thought the added weight would work well for off hand shots. The Predator Hunter is on my short list of 22-250's to get and I was thinking I would have duracoat go over it with A color scheme I like.
what kind of accuracy are people reporting With this gun?

Thanks

Lee

Just received my 223 Savage Predator Hunter 2 weeks ago. I was lucky enough to win it at a hunt. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet because I can't decide on a scope. As mentioned in earlier posts, the gun seems fairly heavy although I don't think it will be a problem. IMO the Mossy Oak Brush camo looks like @$$ and, the quality of the camo job is quite low.
I like the large bolt handle and can't wait to try the accu-trigger.
This is my first high power rifle so I can't comment on anything else at this time.
Planning on posting with shooting results in the near future.
Any suggestions for a scope? Looking for something w/ target dot or mil dot reticle. I am willing to pay $300-$400.
Please PM me so I don't hijack the post. Thanks
