Scanning ?

I have used red lights forever and just got my first night vision scope. Does anybody scan with red lights to find eyes and then switch over to the scope? I definitely find it hindering to use the scope to scan with. What do you guys recommend? Thermal isn't an option st this point.

I bought a tripod last year and started to set-up standing rather than sitting and scanned with the weapon scope. Definitely not ideal, but using a red light with NV optics seemed counter productive.

You can try that and start saving up for a thermal scanner now. Same boat I was in last year and finally pulled the trigger on a Hogster 35 a week ago. Anxiously waiting it's arrival.

It can work. I’ve done it when all I had was a Photon. But you risk spooking the coyotes. So I just went back to scanning with my Photon. But I was hunting over my bait pile the majority of the time. If you’re not hunting heavy brush maybe look into a NV monocular.
