Scents and Lures for Calling (not Trapping)

I've been spending this snow day obsessing over scents and lures for coyotes and foxes.

When sitting and calling - are there recommended scents, cover scents, or lures?

There's some interesting stuff out there (example Hawbaker's) but many of the lures seem to be geared more toward trap lines.

Thanks in advance for any intel or advice.

If I may suggest .....

It has been (vigorously, as I recall) discussed in the past on the forum that a small perforated can (such as an empty peaches can) with a lit charcoal briquette inside, over which one might lay a few strips of bacon, has been found to enhance your chances of seeing predators.

I've never tried it, but seems it was promoted by a board member from the east coast, if I recall correctly.

A search of the forum , several years back, might revive the thread.

Well there ya go, reveal the bacon burn secret and every wannabe is gonna ruin things by BBQing on every piece of hunting ground around, killing some and educating the ones they foul up with a bad set up. Some things are best left unsaid! Where is doggincoyotes when you need him?!!! Doggin' understood such delicate matters.
 
Don't waste your time or money on scents. You are not going to hide your smell if they are down wind of you.

I had an idea last year similar I believe.
My thoughts were to put some scent or lure out with the decoy/call that they could get down wind of and make the set more "realistic" and keep them interested in moving in to the kill zone. They never would've crossed me downwind with my setup.
Everyone kind of gave the same response that it's a waste of time so I never tried it.

Ditto, but I always add a fine Chianti along with Fava beans.

Actually, use old moldy bacon grease and dab it on an end of a cheese combo then toss a few around the e-caller.
I'm turning the survivors into bacon addicts !! ( a sorry waste of perfectly good combos)
