Scope For 22 Mag

Just ordered a Savage 93FV 22 mag. Should have it by Friday. Anybody have any suggestions for a good scope to top it off? Thanks in advance.

I have an older Savage/Anschutz .22 mag.it wears a Leupold 2 x 7 Rimfire scope the optics are great but it is a small scope 28 mm if I remember correctly.

Last year I bought a Bushnell 4 x 12 Trophy scope for a mild build Ruger 10/22 at the big Tulsa gun show. I thought I'd got a fair deal until I saw what the same scope was selling for at Natchez.com {around $100.00 }Mine is made in Japan and is great for in formal sillywett plinking , even if I did over pay.

Weaver rimfire fixed 4X.Or if you prefer they make a 2-7 Japanese made, very good glass Best .22 scope out there for the money. Most .22 scopes today are what I consider China made wreaking yard glass /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif In fact the scope glass is so good in the weaver they can use 28mm OBJ.and you get as good or better light and brightness as a 32obj or better. Its the glass! After buying one for a .22 mag.I then bought another and replaced a leupold rimfire fixed 4x also as it was not as clear and was actually hard for me to see at twice the money on 1 rifle.

My dad has the same gun with a nikon prostaff

Ill second that I got a 3-9x40 at the local Academy for $150, and couldnt be happier

All you need is a 6x40. The mag works perfectly with this type of scope. I have one on top of my mag and can shoot out to 150. Whatever you go with you will have fun.

Thanks to all for the advice. Went with the Weaver 2-7.

First time out----three shots at 50 yards with CCI 40gr HPs.

Think I'm good out to seventy-five yards for anything bobcat size or smaller.

For years I shot .22Mag with a 4-12 and it worked ok. Now it's a 4-16 Weaver and the whole 16x power gets used a lot. I wouldn't go back to a 4-12.

Nice scope! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Same exact glass is on mine /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Try those remington 33gr.V-max too! Most accurate .22mags I've tried in my 597.They work great on bobcats! They go in and blow up and no pelt damage. And CCI actually makes em for remington too!!

I'm impressed with the Weaver 2x7x28mm, I put one on my 219 Sav in 22Hornet. For an old gun it shoots great.

You'll like the scope.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to try that 33gr V-max and see how it shoots out of my gun. The 40 gr jhp is cheaper, but cats are tough, so maybe the V-max is the way to go.

Yes they still make the 22mag,and I highly dought it will
will be going away anytime soon. Its been around a lot longer than the hmr.

Why?

Why put a 1500 dollar scope on a 22 mag?

Why put a scope that weighs over 2 pounds on a 22 mag?

Why even suggest something that bazaar? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
