Scope Help?? Groups went to Hell...

Ok, I'm shooting a Marling 983T 22mag with just a $30 bushnell straight 4x on it with just cheap two halve rings that when you tighten the single screw it clamps onto the gun and around the scope. I've been shooting Remington 33gr V-max and got great groups until today...I went out and shot and couldn't get anything under 4" Some were together but before all were in the orange, or about a 1" group. I came home and took the scope off and had a lot of moisture under the rings. Is moisture under the rings common? Anyone have recommendations as to how they have their gun setup??

Thanks

i would just put everything back together, and make sure the screws are tight. the only reason i can think of for the bad groups is the scope coming loose. put it together and try it again. you might have a little more faith in a better scope or better rings, but the setup you have should do the job.

i used some standard 22 rings on my marlin 60, and it took some monkeying around to make everything work right, but i got there. you can rule out the gun as the problem by dropping it in a vise, and watching it put the hole in the same spot over and over again.

I have the same gun with the same scope and I have shot that ammo through it. Are they the rings that were supplied with the scope, because I have had no problems with them. My smallest groups came from Remmy 33's though.

Sorry I couldn't help. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
