Scope or red-dot for my combo gun

Hello, I am looking for opinions on what would be better for my IZH-94 that I will be using for predators here in Michigan. This is what I have to put on the gun for a sighting system. A Tasco PDP2 30mm red-dot or a Tasco 4X shotgun/blackpowder scope. Seems to me the red-dot would work well with both the rifle (6.5x55) and shotgun (12 gauge) modes. I'm thinking that what I'll see will be within 100 yards. Would the scope be able to do double duty? Thanks for any advice.

I've got the IZH-94 also, and had planned on leaving it sans scope. However, after shooting it (mine's a .223 over a 12 gauge) I found the open sights to be a a chore to sight through. What type of scope mount did you get?

Ive got one of them things too...
Id choose the 4x Tasco shotgun scope... or someother shotgun scope.

even at close range youll be OK with 4X if you keep both eyes open, and the longer shots might be easier for you with that extra magnification.

TommytSled:

There are rails on the IZH-94 for scope rings (same size as 22 "dovetail" rings) and it should be shotgun over rifle barrel if its a 94...

OK I'll go with the scope. That will make things easier as far as getting 1" rings. Thanks as always.
