Got the new Savage 110 Hunter .223 coming.
I need a rail for it.
However, not sure which mount to order because there is apparently 2 sizes of screws.
6-48 and 8-40

Anyone able to help?

Savage changed the thread size on several models about two years ago. The new size is the larger of the two. I thought it was 8x40, but could be wrong. A friend of mine bought a new Axis and it had the larger threads. The dealer sold him a base that didn't fit because of the screw size. I called Savage and told me about the change. If it didn't say in the description, you should probably wait until the rifle arrives.

I think your right 8-40.
Want to have everything ready when it gets here, so I think I will order both and just return the one I don't need.

So I called Savage and was told all the 110's since 2020 are drilled 8-40
I ordered the EWG Hunter rail.
It comes with 6-48 and 8-40 screws.

I'm not sure why they changed the model names/numbers. Going with bigger screws was a good thing. Changing model names can make it more confusing. It use to be you had I think Model 10, 11,12 and 16s which was a short action and 110, 111,112 and 116s which was long action. Now they are all 110. Didn't they also change barrel shanks at one point also?
