scorpian shutting down

When ramping up the volume the scorpian shuts down when it gets to about 3/4 volume. Is this a sign of weak batteries or do I have another problem?

Alkaline batteries don't perform to well in a Scorpion. They can't deliver enough power fast enough to the amplifier at higher volume levels.
Get some GOOD NiMh rechargeables and a good battery charger and all will be fine.
When all else fails read the owners manual. Available at:

batteryspace.com has great barreries at low prices, more ma.i get alll mine there i use 2600masome of the highest i have found and they have these neat plastic holders that hold 4each.cheap prices on smart chargers.fospro probably gets theirs at a place similar

Fellows, in my opinion, it is hard to beat the performance of the black batteries Foxpro is selling. They are a slow discharge battery and therefore have superior shelf life. Foxpro keeps up with what works best in their ecallers, and advise customers accordingly. These are the latest batteries they have tested and stocked to the best of my knowledge. My CS-24 has two ten packs with seperate plug ins on the side of the ecaller. I had not used them in about 90 days, and they needed only a short top off from the smart charger to be ready to go full bore.

I agree the Foxpro batteries work good but why do they not just have the batteries without the charger? Unless I'm missing something

I bought some new rechargables and the scorpian is working fine again. I found a small case that fits the scorpian and strapped it to TOA speaker, it kind of looks like a CS24. I was going to sell it but think I will keep for another season.

I can't remember who it was but somebody posted about using a 1 gallon round cooler to install a speaker and mount the Scorpion to the outside. I went a little different route and used a large PVC pipe to mount 2 speakers inside and hinged it to allow some flexibility with speaker angles. It's worked good for me as I also used a strap so it is easy to carry. 2 Velcro straps on the outside to hold the Scorpion.

I've heard the new ones perform pretty good although I have no personal experience with them. I do know my original greenish colored ones that came with my Scorpion have worked for 2 years but I'm thinking it's getting time to replace. I haven't been the best at keeping them charged like you should and I rarely disconnect the battery pack when I'm not using the call.
