It's not hunting unless your out for at least 3 or 4 days. This one watching me practice with my bow in the back yard. My tag is not for this area.

A buddy and I finally got around to talking about hunting on the last day to submit for the draw, figured out what we wanted to do around 8, logged in and found the deadline was 5pm, not midnight. So we decided to wait until leftovers were released and we would pick up 35 for goat. Plenty of leftovers and we screwed around again, logged in and 35 was sold out

We finaly did 38. Now to see if I actually go this year. I've eaten 8 tags the previous 2 years, too busy to go. My wife says I really need to start again, I've been working 365 for the last few years and havent done anything to relax.

I'd prefer a good elk trip but don't have a good elk area.

Finding a goat up here isn't hard. It's a pretty low stress hunt as long as you have a little land to cruise around. I thought new Mexico had a bunch of them as well.

We have a good number, but there aren't that many tags available in the public draw. Competition for those is fierce. I want to say there's about a one in 15 chance of pulling a tag. In 24 combined years of applying, the wife and I have drawn one tag each. One can buy landowner authorizations, but the average cost for one buck tag here is greater than my cost to buy three tags in WY and drive up there.

I drew my third choice this year - two does in unit 9. Went ahead and got a leftover buck tag for unit 8 just because I'll be in the area. I've never hunted either unit, but I'm gonna give it a whirl.
