Selling a vehicle on craigslist is absurdity .....

Over the years I've always had a knack for buying vehicles at a bargain, driving them a while, then selling them for a small profit. Never had a problem and never misrepresented any vehicle I sold.

I've (for the first time) listed a vehicle on craigslist ......

It is totally UNBELIEVABLE what people will ask you to do, or try to run a scam on you. Here's just a few of the things that have happened:

1) One guy wanted my PayPal address so he could just go ahead and pay me (sight unseen) and he'd have someone call and get my address later so they could pick up the car. Yeah .... right.

2) A lady e-mailed and seemed "normal" enough .... until she sent the second e-mail and asked me to click on some link and research average insurance rates for our area. Huh? She can do her OWN research ....

3) Another e-mail had VERY broken English and asked if I would be willing to accept a cashiers check and then hold the car for pickup by another party.

Are people THAT determined to scam everyone anymore? And do I have "Stupid" imprinted on my forehead?

I'm going to leave it listed for a few more days (or until I get fed up) and then just take an ad out in the local newspaper.

You can come up with some real hustlers on Craig's List...I guess it's about the same as someone trying to find a companion/date by listing in the "Personals" column in the newspaper...

Well, it "could" be a nice asset to sellers and buyers. If the nutcases and scammers would leave it alone. But like everything else, there's always someone out there to screw up everything.

Not just the scammers but the spam I recieve while something is listed is rediculous! Who knew so many places sold viagra.

I have bought/ sold several things on craigslist, inclding a truck. The scams get old but I have had some pretty good luck with it. Just gotta sort through the BS
 
CL is a joke.............its FULL of scammers.
I list a lot on CL & get the same scammers, its funny.
I like the ones that ask "is it still for sale" well DumdA** if its posted its for sale....then they run the scamm BS.
 
I will give CL itself the benefit of the doubt. If you report a problem, it gets taken care of in short order. Had some moron make derogatory remarks about our product, in attempting to sell his own on CL. Reported the ad to CL and it was gone in under 20 minutes! He hasn't listed anything since either.

Of course we sent about half a dozen different inspectors by to visit him, since we have to tolerate their visits, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't prepared for all of that BullPucky!!
 
Thus far I have had OK luck with CL. I have purchased a go kart and atv listed there. Sold the same go kart on CL and listed an atv. Sold the atv through the paper but did get some crazy emails on it. One guy from the Chicago area (8 hour drive) and some really dumb low ball offers.

I did get quite a bit of scam emails too which was really disappointing. I would think CL would monitor better but I didn't complain so maybe that's the problem. Most of us just grit our teeth and delete spam emails without reporting them.

I've sure something like an automobile would be like throwing bloody meat into a shark tank.
 
Our craigslist is pretty good around here, but u always get your dumb scamers. One wanted my adress so they could come look at the quad next week. I don't give it out unless there going to be there that day.
