Hey guys,

It's me again with another stupid question, but at least I know where to find the answers!!!

Anyway, I was curious about where I might find out more about my Remington 700s based on their serial numbers. I here alot of guys on here refering to the serial number in relationship to it's age, but have no idea where to find out this information!!! Can anybody give me a little help on this one?

Thanks in advance,

Hamer

On the left side of your barrel there will be two or three letters, they are down low on the barrel and right in front of the reciever, then find a copy of The Blue Book of Gun Values, in the back it gives the code to find the month and year of manufacture. It is listed under serialization.

I've looked at everyones sugested places to look and am not any closer to finding out anything. I haven't called Remington yet, though. The letters on the left side of the barrel are: Maybe "D", "J", and "O". Three letters and nothing makes sense!!!! I just want to see if this rifle deserves a new stock or is she just a cheep knock around gun!!! Picked it up pretty cheep!!!
On a side note, I also read somewhere that in the 80"s, Remington sold model 700 gun kits that you could put together yourself!! Maybe that's what this is. On the right side of the barrel, there is a cloverleaf and the letters "REP" on it. Any ideas?
