Sheep farm double

Made 4 sets. 1 and 2 were uneventful accompanied by light drizzle and 25 mph wind gusts. 😐 With the stiff winds coming from the NW I decided to head to my sheep farm property as there’s a nice low lying pasture on the NW corner of the property and it’s lined by a nice block of timber to the west and a wooded hedgerow separating it from a large soybean field to the north. I got setup and let out a lone howl on the foxpro and was about to run a pair howl when I pick up heat coming over the slight rise to the North. It tops the crown of the rise and turns broadside and I see its a coyote. I settled into my rifle and bang flop! At the shot I see another run over the rise heading north. It was in a low spot on the west side of the field. I grab my Micro howler and rip some Kiyi’s and a few seconds later I see just the head peaking over the rise near where I dropped the first. I tried a head shot and missed as it exited back to the north. More Kiyi’s on the Micro Howler and some pup distress on the FP and nothing. I start walking towards the downed coyote after a few minutes and about 20 yards into the trip I scan and see heat crossing right to left beyond the downed coyote. It’s another coyote that gets behind the rise of the hill. I’m scanning left and right for what seemed like minutes when I pick it up at 75 yards walking the west edge of the field. I’m in the gun just waiting for it to stop, and when it did it was looking directly my way. Another squeeze of the trigger dropped number 2 on the spot. I wrangled them up for the photo and then dragged them into their final resting place in the woods. Adult pair. Male was number 1 at 185 yds per OnX and the female was number 2 at about 75 yards. Both had pretty lousy fur and thin ratty tails. Maybe mange was getting a foothold? A little good news for my sheep lady anyways!

Thanks fellas! I must have had 1:00 AM delirium when I posted last night as I actually made 5 sets with the sheep farm being the 4th! 😂

The drizzle subsided while on the 3rd set but winds remained. That’s the main reason I tried the sheep farm as I knew the wind would be much calmer given the lay of the land and woods etc. It worked out well. The last set of the night was a fairly similar situation with the wind breaking cover, but no coyotes wanted to cooperate on that set.
