Today I was sighting in a new scope on this rifle. I has some American Eagle 223 50 grain hp rounds that were given to me. So I figured to zero with these rounds. By the time I was through, I was putting some 50 grain sierras loaded with benchmark in a 1/4 in circle at 100 yards. This thing is a bug zapper with the 50 grain bullets. I have shot several 65 to 68 grain through it without much luck. I will try the 53 Amax, 55 Amax and the 60 Amax in it next. I was beginning to wopnder if this rifle would ever group less that 1 1/2 inches with anything.

things that make me go..hmmmm?..if I cant get the 60`s to work maybe I`ll go back to 50`s with mine, glad you found something that works

My DPMS seems to like everything I have fed it so far. 50 to 69 grains, it doesn't seem to matter. I love shooting this little gun.
Good job finding what it likes.

40gr v max 52 A max and 53gr v max and 60gr varminters shoot greatin mine. Its nice when it doesnt take a lot of messin around to make the gun happy.

Shooting factory, or pre-loaded, rounds through any rifle barrel can be a little 'iffy' at times...You may wind up buying several different brands and types to find ones that shoot reasonably good...

That's one of the joys/headaches of reloading..Finding a particular combination of components that give you a lot of flexibility in what you are shooting and still have great accuracy..

It had been a while since I loaded the 50 grain sierras. I just pulled a bullet to check the charge. That checked out to be 24.5 grains of benchmark, cci 400 primers, Rem. brass which have been reloaded several times, coal is 2.254 with a crimp. This is what the unfired rounds checked out to. Give it a try and see if your 1-9 twist 16" bbl. will shoot them.

Thanks Widow Maker 223, I have since learned that I do not need to crimp. However, the rounds that I was talking about had a crimp,Therefore I did mention that.I have learned a lot of valuable information on the different web sites.
