Shooting Bench Plans?

That might be a good idea. I was going to make one to leave set up on our place. Should be fairly sturdy because my bull will more than likely knock it over. Maybe one more portable would be best.

This is the best, most stable yet inexpensive that I've seen...I made some modifications to the plans, used carriage bolts all the way thru the top and floor flanges instead of wood screws, used ¾" cabinet grade plywood instead of 1" so it's a bit lighter, but still plenty stable. It's also only 24" wide instead of 28".

I made one out of 1" sq. tube, it "L" shaped like the table above, but 4' X 4' with a 2' X 2' notch out of it. I welded 3/4" sq. tube in the 5 corners, about 6" long. Then I made 5 legs out of 1" sq. tube with 3" sq. pads welded on the bottom and a 1/4" set screw at the top. The legs go over the 3/4" tube and can adjust for uneven terrian, then tighten so the table is solid. Topped it with a 3/4" piece of particle board.

Sorry, no pics. I'll have to take some next time I use it.

Welding for most of us is not an option, that's why the aeroaces table was developed, it's extremely sturdy, solid, and anyone can build it for less than $50. The 3 legged design is self leveling and can be used just about anywhere. The hardest part is cutting the wedges to get the leg angles, fortunetly, only 2 cuts need to be made.

After many hours of looking and designing this is what I came up with. You can attach them to your reciever hitch or take apart (about 2 min)and put in box or trunk. You can roll them around or put the solid base on for all day shooting.I have about 150.00 in them plus time.

The seat goes up and down. And forward and back.Set up for right or left hand shooters. The table can be tilted up or down.

I have 5 for sale if anyone is intrested.Asking 250.00 plus shipping or trade for ????

I figured if I asked for help you guys would go out of your way to assist. All of you are REAL help. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif 1lessdog- thats a dandy you have made, unfortunately I'm on a real tight budget right now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I will probably make one out of some materials I have on hand. By the way, since all of you are so helpful, I was thinking that next fall when I bust an elk and I need some help to pack it out............ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don't have any plans but I made a nice one out of some legs from a banquet table and a piece of wood about 24 x 36 and closed cel foam rubber.

I think an "L" shaped bench would be good!
Build it out of a 4 foot square piece of plywood!
Cut a 2 foot square out of one of the corners! That way, you have 2'X4' up the side and across the front! Fasten 3 legs with floor flanges and 3/4 inch galvanized pipe!

The neat thing about this design is, if you have a left handed shooter show up, you just give the bench a 1/4 turn to the left and you have a left handed bench!

Just came up with this idea while looking at the bench posted by Wrongtarget!
Now I have to make one!

Here is mine. 24X48 inches. 35 inches high. 1-1/4 inch threaded galvinized pipe. Cheap piece of thin carpet from Home Depot.

You need to use [] brackets, not parens...you'll also need to resize the pic, use the EDIT button at Photobucket and choose 75% of original, refresh and repeat until it fits.

Rimrock,

That's a great little bench you've got there. How did you attach the pipes to the bottom of the bench top? I would imagine some sort of flange or something, but did you have a block of wood with the bottom surface cut at an angle or soemthing in order to get the legs angled like you did?

SG, Yes, the legs screw into pipe flanges. It does have angle blocks that the flanges attach to. I used carriage bolts to attach through the blocks and the 1-1/8" top. The angled legs makes for a much more stable platform.
